The suspension came after Dar es Salaam
Regional Commissioner (RC), Mr Paul Makonda told the gathering that the
director has denied Dar city council a levy of 3.0bn/- that was to be
realised from Ubungo Bus Stand.
The RC said his team, led by regional
secretary, found that the director used 2004 bylaw that stipulates the
levy per bus was 4,000/- instead of 2009 bylaw that levied 8,000/- per
bus.
“The 2009 bylaw automatically nullified
the 2004. But the city used the 2004 bylaw. This way Mr President, the
city lost 3.0bn/- cumulatively to date since 2009,” Mr Makonda said.
On top of that the City Director who is
signatory for any city contract or agreement, also extended the expired
contract of Parking System for nine months more instead of announcing
for a new tender.
The contract expired in 2015.
President called back to the podium the
RC and after he told him again on the office abuse done by the city
director, Dr Magufuli asked the gathering what they wanted him to do.
The gathering told the president to
‘tumbua jibu’ (‘press the boil’) which he did and ordered a fresh
investigation and if Mr Kabwe is clean he has no problem, but if not he
should face the law.
