Mwanafunzi Mmarekani afungwa jela Korea Kaskazini

Mahakama ya Juu nchini Korea Kaskazini imemhukumu
mwanafunzi Mmarekani kifungo cha miaka 15 jela na
kazi ngumu, vyombo vya habari vya serikali vimeripoti.
Amehukumiwa kwa makosa ya uhalifu dhidi ya dola.
Otto Warmbier, 21, alikiri kuiba bango la kisiasa
katika hoteli alimokuwa akiishi na kundi la watalii mjini
Pyongyang.
Alikamatwa Januari alipokuwa akijaribu kuondoka Korea
Kaskazini.
Baadaye alijitokeza kwenye runinga akionekana kukiri
makosa hayo na kusema kundi moja la kanisa lilikuwa
limemuomba abebe kitu cha kukumbuka kutoka kwa
safari yake.
Korea Kaskazini wakati mwingine huwafunga jela wageni
kama njia ya shinikizo kwa mataifa yanayoipinga.
Warmbier, 21 alikuwa mwanafunzi wa Chuo Kikuu cha
Virginia.
Wakati wa kukamatwa kwake tarehe 2 Januari, shirika
la habari la serikali la KCNA lilisema alikuwa ameingia
Korea Kaskazini akiwa na lengo la “kuvuruga umoja wa
taifa” na kwamba alikuwa amedhibitiwa na kuelekezwa
na serikali ya Marekani.
Akiongea kwenye runinga Februari, huku akitokewa na
machozi, alisema alitenda “kosa kwa kuondoa bango la
kisiasa kutoka eneo la kusubiri wafanyakazi katika hoteli
ya Yanggakdo”.
“Lengo langu lilikuwa kudhuru kujitolea na bidii ya watu
wa Korea. Hili lilikuwa lengo la kijinga sana,”
alinukuliwa akisema.
Alisema ndilo kosa kubwa kabisa alilowahi kulifanya
maishani.
