50 wafariki kwenye mafuriko Ethiopia

Takriban watu 50 wamefariki kufautia mafuriko na maporomoko ya ardhi yaliosababishwa na mvua kubwa katika baadhi ya maeneo Ethiopia.
Taifa hilo la upembe wa Afrika linakabiliwana ukame mbaya kuwahi kushuhudiwa katika miaka 50 huku watu zaidi ya milioni 10 wakiwa wanahitaji msaada wa dharura wa kibinaadamu.
Ukame huo umezidhishwa kuwa mbaya kutokana mvua ya El Nino inayoaathiri baadhi ya mataifa Afrika mashariki na kusini.
Maafisa wa serikali katika wilaya iliopo kusini mwa Ethiopia Wolaita wamekiambia kituo cha televisheni ya serikali kuwa watu 41 waliuawa Jumatatu katika maporomoko ya ardhi yaliotokana na mvua kubwa inayoendelea kunyesha nchini.
Wengine 9 walifariki kuisni mashriki mwa eneo la Bol ambako mamia ya mifugo pia ilizama.
Maelfu ya watu pia wamepoteza makaazi yao, walisema maafisa.
Mafuriko yametatiza jitihada za kuwaisaidia watu wanaohitaji usaidizi baada ya barabara nyingi na vivukio kuharibika kabisa.
Serikali na mashirika yamisaada yameanzisha ombi la msaada wa thamani ya dola bilioni 1.4 kuwasiaidia mamilioni ya watu wanaohitaji kwa dharura chakula.
